STUDY-WORK PLAN FOR THE INDIGENT STUDENTS

Qualification Requirements

The following are the qualification requirements for student applications:
1. Must come from an indigent family;
2. Must be a high school graduate; with earned units in college; passer of ALS/PEPT;
3. Must not have availed CHED Scholarship or any financial assistance program from any institution/agencies
4. Must not be a graduate of any degree program

Qualification Requirements

The following are the qualification requirements for student’s applicants:
1. Accomplished University Application Form from the Student Affairs & Services Office
2. High School Reports Card (Form 138) for high school graduates
3. Certificate of Grades in all subjects in completed semesters for applications with earned units in College
4. For other applicants:
4.1 ALS – Accreditation and Equivalency Test Passer Certificate
4.2 PEPT – Certificate of Advancing to the Next Level
5. Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) of Certificate of Indigency from the Barangay Captain attested by the DSWD in the locality.
6. In case the applicant is a member of the indigenous group, he/she shall secure Certificate of Indigenous Membership from the Service Center of the NCIP.
7. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the school last attended

Financial Benefits/Obligations

The qualified applicants shall enjoy free tuition and miscellaneous fees. However, they shall be required to pay the local fees collected upon enrolment like school ID fee, student handbook fee, student’s insurance, student government revolving fund, etc. duly approved by the University authorities.


GUIDELINES ON THE MEMBERSHIP AND THE GRANT OF BENEFITS FOR ATHLETES AND MEMBERS OF THE DANCE TROUPE, CHORALE GROUP AND THE UNIVERSITY BAND

1. To qualify for membership as university athlete, the shall be meet:
a. He/she must be a bona fide student of Jose Rizal Memorial State University System. Bona fide students are those who regularly enrolled in the university and carrying not less than fifteen (15) units load in a semester, except those graduating students whose study load is less than 15 units.
b. No part-time students shall be allowed to join in any group/organization. Part-time students shall be defined as those carrying less than 15 units load.
c. He/she must be physically fir and shall secure medical certificate from the practitioner for application.
d. Parents consent must be sought allowing his/her child to participate in any sports and related activities that the university may undertake.
e. He/she should pass the screening process which shall be conducted by the designated faculty/staff who shall act as coach/trainer of a certain sport event.

2. After the screening process, the coach/trainer or the chairman of the screening committee shall endorse the qualified applicants to the PESA director and the Dean of Student Affairs and Services, and the latter shall forward the list to the VPAA for recommendation for the University President’s approval.

3. The coach/trainer shall maintain the reasonable size or the number of member athletes for a particular sport, and recruitment and acceptance of additional members shall be done only if there are graduating member athletes or terminated players.

4. All athletes/player shall be exempted from attending the Physical Education (PE) classes, except for those who take teacher education program major in MAPEH, maritime courses, criminology and NSTP training provided that the time scheduled for the said subjects shall be devoted for practice as arranged by the coaches. The coach shall be responsible in giving the grades in PE and NSTP to the athletes. Further, player who passed the screening process shall undergo one year under training or as a trainee, after which he/she enjoy free tuition and miscellaneous fees and shall be issued complete athletic uniform intended for the athletes. He/she shall continue to enjoy the aforementioned benefits until such time that he/she has graduated or has been eliminated from the roster of players due to inobservance of certain rules.

5. All applicants who have and competed in the national sports competition shall not undergo one-year training, provided that the sport he played in the competition is the sport he is applying for membership in the University. Certification and other supporting documents from the concerned official are required. Applicants, who have not played in any national competition, shall undergo 1-year training before enjoying the benefits.

6. Four absences from the regular practice shall be ground for termination from the roster of the University athletes/performers. The coach/trainer shall have the discretion to retain/exclude the student from further participation by reason of his/her performance and disposition in the group. The coach/trainer shall then recommend in writing to the concerned officials for exclusion of the athlete/s from the pool of players/performer.

7. For those who wish to join the group but could not be officially listed/included in the pool of members shall be exempted from taking NSTP and PE classes but could not avail the scholarship.

8. All members must maintain good academic standing, with a general average of 2.5 with no failing grades in all subjects taken. In the case of INC, the athlete is given one (1) semester to complete the grade/s pursuant to the provision in the University Code.


Dean’s List – is awarded to student who:

1. Carry a normal load according to the curriculum enrolled or least 21 units.
2. Obtain a weighted average of at least 1.5 and without a grade in any one subject lower than 1.75 in that curriculum year.

As basis for computation of the weighted average
• For freshmen students – the first semester of the current year
• For sophomore, junior, fourth and fifth year students – the first semester of the current year and the previous semesters weighted average of the candidate should be at least 1.5 and no grade below 1.5

3. Active participation in the activities of the College.
4. Has no disciplinary record in the College.
5. Recommended by the Awards Committee of the College.

Administrator’s List – is awarded to students who:

1. Carry a normal load of at least 21 units.
2. Obtain a weighted average of at least 1.25 and without a grade in any one subject lower than 1.5 in that curriculum year.

As basis for computation of the weighted average
• For freshman students – the first semester of the current year.
• For sophomore, junior, fourth and fifth year students – the first semester of the current year and the previous semesters weighted average of the candidate should be at least 1.25 and no grade below 1.5
3. Active participation in the activities of the College.
4. Has no disciplinary record in the College.
5. Recommended by the Dean,

President’s List – is awarded to student who:

1. Carry a normal load of at least 21 units.
2. Obtain a weighted average of at least 1.25 and without a grade in any one subject lower than 1.5 in that curriculum year.

• For freshman students – the first semester of the current year.
• For sophomore, junior, fourth and fifth year students – the first semester of the current year and the previous semesters weighted average of the candidate should be at least 1.25 and no grade below 1.5
3. Active participation in the activities of the College.

5. Recommended by the Campus Administrator, Vice President for Academic Affairs or President of any recognized organization of the community.


Scholarships and Financial Aid

Article 27 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Sec.92 – Students who graduated as valedictorian or salutatorian from public or recognized private high school are awarded entrance scholarships. This consists of free tuition for salutatorian for one semester only. Provided, that they belong to a graduating class of least forty (40) students. Miscellaneous fees have to be paid by the student.

Sec.93 – The University provides tuition fee privileges to deserving students who have exemplary academic performance:
(1) President’s List – he/she shall enjoy fell free tuition fee with 500 monthly allowance chargeable to the income of the University.
(2) Administrator’s List – He/she shall enjoy full free tuition fee.
(3) Dean’s List – He/she shall enjoy 50% tuition fee discount.

Sec.94 – In case the honor student is a recipient of other scholarship, he/she must choose only one scholarship and other privileges granted.

Article 28 OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Sec. 95 – Other scholarships of the University are categorized into the following:
(1) Private Scholarships. These are funded by private benefactor’s establishments and institutions who willingly shoulder the tuition and miscellaneous fees of the recipients. The admission and retention guidelines and policies are exclusively set by the benefactors/sponsors.
(2) Government Scholarships. These are scholarships provided by the government through its agencies and other institutions.
(3) Institution Scholarships. These are scholarships provided by the University which the grantees are subjected to institutional guidelines. These include the members of the Dance Troupe, Choristers, the University Drum and Lyre Corps, SSG Officers, Varsity Players and the like.

Sec. 96 – Children of faculty of the University taking undergraduate courses shall be entitled to fifty percent (50%) discount on tuition fee while children of administrative staff shall be entitled to seventy-five (75%) discount on tuition fee to be availed for four years of study in the university.

Sec. 97 – The State University provides a student program assistance to a limited number of students who are unable to finance their studies. Assistance is awarded to deserving students with high scholastic achievement, and who are industrious and with exemplary character. Students desiring to be student assistants should apply to the Office of Students Affairs. Available opportunities are office works and janitorial activities.
