Celebrating 2025 National Women’s Month: A Call for Equality and Empowerment

The Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Katipunan Campus proudly joins the nation in celebrating the 2025 National Women’s Month this March. With the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” this year’s celebration underscores the vital role of women across all sectors in shaping a progressive and inclusive future. It highlights the significance of women’s empowerment, equal opportunities, and their contributions to building a stronger and more resilient society.

Women have long been at the forefront of change, yet they continue to face challenges in various aspects of life, including economic opportunities, political representation, and access to education and healthcare. This month serves as a reminder that gender equality is not just a women’s issue but a fundamental human right that benefits everyone. It is a time to recognize the strength, perseverance, and invaluable contributions of women in every field—from agriculture and entrepreneurship to governance and social work.

The celebration also aligns with the advocacy of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in promoting gender equality and inclusive policies. The campaign #WEcanbeEquALL reinforces the idea that every individual, regardless of gender, deserves equal access to resources, opportunities, and leadership roles. This initiative aims to inspire young minds, institutions, and communities to break stereotypes and support the empowerment of women in all sectors.

Throughout the month, various activities such as seminars, forums, and community outreach programs will be conducted to educate and inspire individuals to take an active role in gender advocacy. Schools, workplaces, and organizations are encouraged to initiate conversations on women’s rights, leadership, and the importance of inclusivity in achieving national development. These activities foster a sense of awareness and unity, reinforcing that progress is achieved when everyone works together.

One of the key highlights of this year’s celebration is the recognition of women leaders who have paved the way for progress. From grassroots movements to national governance, these women have broken barriers and led significant advancements in their respective fields. Their stories serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the next generation, proving that gender should never be a limitation in achieving one’s aspirations.

Moreover, the celebration calls for continued policy reforms that protect and uphold women’s rights. Laws such as the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710), the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313), and other gender-responsive policies are instrumental in ensuring that women are safeguarded from discrimination and violence. Strengthening these laws and their implementation remains a crucial part of the journey toward gender equality.

As we celebrate National Women’s Month 2025, let us all take part in promoting an environment where women and girls can thrive without fear or limitations. Let us challenge biases, uplift women in our communities, and advocate for policies that create equal opportunities for all. A progressive and inclusive society is one where every woman, regardless of background, is given the chance to succeed and contribute to nation-building.

This month is not just about celebration; it is about commitment. It is a call to action for individuals, institutions, and leaders to work towards a future where gender equality is the norm. With collective effort and unwavering dedication, we can create a Bagong Pilipinas where every woman is empowered, respected, and given the platform to lead.

Together, let us honor and celebrate the strength, courage, and achievements of women. Let us continue the fight for a more equitable society where every Filipino, regardless of gender, can rise and shape a better future.

Happy National Women’s Month 2025!
